Automobile liability laws in countries outside of the
U.S. vary as much as their languages do. Typically,
local laws require local coverage, and noncompliance
can lead to stiff fines and even jail time. Local insurance
policies often have low coverage limits and gaps in
coverage that can lead to significant uninsured losses.
A combination program that includes local coverage
and a difference in conditions/difference in limits
policy will allow you both to comply with local laws
and provide the standard of protection common in the
United States.
Liability: protects you and your
employees from third parties who may sue you following
an auto accident, and provides coverage for both your
legal defense and for judgments made against you.
Medical Payments: provides no-fault
medical coverage, similar to insurance you purchase
in the United States.
Physical Damage: covers damage to
your vehicle, or any vehicle you rent while overseas.
This description of coverage is not an insurance contract.
Your policy is the contract that specifies and fully
describes your coverage. Conditions and exclusions will
apply. Not all coverage described is available in all
states.
